DetailsThe serial number must be unique for each CyberGatekeeper installation to ensure logging and reporting work properly. The unique serial number is automatically created the first time Agent starts up. If this serial number has been generated on a source image, then all systems where this image is deployed will have the same serial number, which will cause problems with logging, though enforcement will be unaffected.
To prevent this, simply follow these steps on the source image:
- Stop the CyberGatekeeper Agent Service (net stop cgagent at a DOS prompt with admin rights)
- Using regedit, delete the following registry entries:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\InfoExpress\CGAgent\SerialNumber
- HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\InfoExpress\CGAgent\SerialNumber
- HKEY_USERS\[User SID]\Software\InfoExpress\CGAgent\SerialNumber
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InfoExpress\CGAgent\SerialNumber (Web Agent)
Not all of these keys may be present on all systems, especially systems running older (E.G. V1.4) agents.
Note, if the CyberGatekeeper Agent Service is started again, a new serial number will be generated, and the above steps must be repeated in order to prepare the image for cloning. As a result, InfoExpress recommends that you perform the above steps last, to ensure that the next reboot will occur on deployed workstations, preventing a new serial number from being generated on the source image.
