DetailsThe CyberGatekeeper Agent (persistent or dynamic/dissolvable) creates a unique serial once it runs for the first time. A Policy Server (appliance) will track all unique agent serial numbers that audit against it within a calendar month. At the beginning of every month, the Policy Server resets the counter back to zero.
The unique serial number is not removed from an end-user's system when the agent is upgraded or uninstalled. In normal use, this means that a serial number is good for the 'lifetime' of that system.
Systems that run both the desktop (persistent) and web (dynamic/dissolvable) agent will consume two license seats. This is because the desktop agent stores its serial number in HKLM. The web agent does not run with sufficient permissions to access this key, so it stores a separate serial number in HKCU.
Should an organization exceed their license count, a message will appear in the agent viewer stating that the license count has been exceed and will also appear in any pop-up messages (should they be configured). The message is only visible to users who have exceeded the license count.
